People Building Better Cities: Joburg Exhibition
People Building Better Cities is an international exhibition sharing awesome work that people are doing to make their cities better. In Joburg, the organisers decided to take it a step further, and use the exhibition as a platform to feature community groups and create networks amongst them. The exhibition is open daily in Maboneng on the 2nd floor of Fox Street Studios, cnr. Kruger.

Today, students from the Boundless Arts program in Jeppestown/Maboneng visited the exhibition. Currently, the Boundless Arts program is in its “Urbanism” section, and high school students have watched the film “Urbanized” and drawn and strategised new ways to look at their city.

As a part of the exhibition visit, we had a special guest, Alice Cabaret. Alice works as an urban strategist for Propertuity, the developers of Maboneng. Alice explained what she does to the students and the students shared their ideas for the area and their questions about urban development and design. This sort of exchange is exactly what the PBBC Joburg Exhibition intended (as orchestrated by Sticky Situations), bringing community groups and professionals together to envision better cities in the future.
Don’t miss the exhibition, which is on view in Maboneng for two weeks, then moving to Diepsloot, and then to Wits. You can find out more about the series of events by clicking here. Boundless City was lucky to be a part of this event by assisting with web design and showcasing some of our projects and projects we are involved in such as Hoop Mania, Boundless Arts, and Photovoice.

And speaking of Hoop Mania… don’t miss the next tournament this Saturday. Check out the facebook event here for more details.
Lotsa love,
Alex
